Seven Up Bottling Company (SBC) is seeking a skilled and experienced professional for the position of AI and Automation Lead. This full-time opportunity is based in Lagos and is designed for a technology, data, or business automation specialist who can turn practical business needs into secure, measurable, and useful digital solutions.
7UP has a long history of innovation. Created by the Howdy Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri, 7UP began as an optimistic venture after the success of Howdy Orange encouraged founder C.L. Grigg to develop a lemon-and-lime soft drink. Today, the brand is widely recognised, and the company continues to rely on technology, data, efficient processes, and responsible innovation to support its operations.
Position Overview
The AI and Automation Lead will guide the practical delivery of artificial intelligence and workflow automation solutions that improve how SBC operates and create measurable business value. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Business Solutions and relevant business owners to identify opportunities, assess feasibility, define success measures, develop prototypes, and support solutions through pilot and release stages.
- Position: AI and Automation Lead
- Employment type: Full-time
- Location: Lagos
- Job fields: Data, Business Analysis and AI; ICT / Computer
- Qualification: BA, BSc, HND, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience: 5–8 years
Role Summary
This role combines business analysis, software integration, workflow development, applied artificial intelligence, stakeholder engagement, and operational readiness. Rather than selecting technology first, the AI and Automation Lead will begin by understanding business problems, mapping existing processes, reviewing available data, and determining whether the best solution is process improvement, an existing system capability, rules-based automation, or AI.
The successful candidate will also help ensure that new solutions are practical, secure, properly tested, documented, and supported after release. Strong judgement will be required when evaluating expected benefits, technical risks, data readiness, implementation costs, user adoption, and the need for human review.
Key Responsibilities
Business Discovery and Prioritisation
- Understand business challenges, document current processes, and assess whether an automation opportunity should be pursued.
- Review requests through a structured intake process and compare process improvement, existing system features, rules-based automation, and AI options.
- Define business requirements, ownership, baseline performance, acceptance criteria, and proposed delivery priorities.
- Work with business teams to identify realistic use cases that can improve efficiency, quality, cycle time, service delivery, or decision-making.
- Promote AI literacy, responsible technology use, training, and solution adoption across different organisational functions.
- Monitor organisational AI capability, readiness, and maturity over time.
- Establish a consistent assessment framework that business units can use to identify and evaluate automation opportunities.
Hands-On AI and Automation Delivery
- Design, build, test, troubleshoot, and support workflows using n8n, APIs, code, and suitable low-code tools.
- Integrate approved AI capabilities into workflows for document processing, information extraction, analysis, knowledge access, and other appropriate business applications.
- Develop prototypes selected jointly with business owners, demonstrate progress, gather feedback, and make improvements through agreed pilot and release gates.
- Include human approvals, exception handling, monitoring, alerts, and recovery procedures appropriate to each solution.
- Maintain clear documentation so users, technical teams, and business owners understand how each workflow operates and what limitations apply.
Integration, Security, and Operational Readiness
- Collaborate with platform owners supporting Google Workspace Enterprise Plus, SAP S/4HANA RISE, internal applications, and approved AI services.
- Apply least-privilege access, secure credential management, responsible data protection, and suitable logging and retention practices.
- Maintain workflow and code versions using the company’s engineering practices and on-premise Azure DevOps environment.
- Work with relevant teams to define operational ownership, support responsibilities, rollback arrangements, and handover requirements before production release.
- Consider security, privacy, reliability, cost, scalability, and user impact throughout the development and deployment process.
Measurement and Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate AI outputs using representative test cases, including accuracy, reliability, limitations, consistency, and operating cost.
- Measure results against agreed baselines such as staff effort, processing time, quality, adoption, error reduction, and financial or operating cost.
- Distinguish projected benefits from verified outcomes and collaborate with business owners and Finance when material financial claims need validation.
- Use evidence to recommend whether a solution should be improved, scaled, paused, or stopped.
- Monitor solutions after implementation and identify opportunities for optimisation, better adoption, or stronger controls.
Centre of Excellence Development and Adoption
- Develop reusable components, practical documentation, templates, and proportionate delivery standards.
- Coach developers and support AI Champions with discovery, testing, feedback, implementation, and user adoption.
- Work with Google, Descasio, and other approved partners on technical enablement, knowledge transfer, and solution support.
- Report progress, risks, dependencies, decisions, and emerging issues to the Head of Business Solutions.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. Equivalent demonstrable professional experience may also be considered. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of proven hands-on experience delivering and supporting business automation, software integrations, or AI-enabled workflows and applications.
- Ability to build and troubleshoot n8n workflows, including approvals, error handling, monitoring, and recovery processes.
- Practical proficiency in Python or JavaScript, REST APIs, authentication, structured data handling, SQL, and Git.
- Experience with Google Workspace automation, AppSheet, Apps Script, or Google Cloud.
- Exposure to SAP or other enterprise resource planning integrations and Azure DevOps Server.
- Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial operations, or another environment where reliable business processes are important.
- Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation, document processing, applied machine learning, or other practical AI applications would be beneficial.
- Experience mentoring engineers or contributing to an AI or automation Centre of Excellence.
- Ability to evaluate AI outputs, control usage costs, identify limitations, and apply appropriate human review.
- Strong business analysis, problem-solving, documentation, project coordination, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Working knowledge of secure development, data protection, change management, monitoring, and operational support.
Personal Attributes for Success
The ideal candidate should combine technical capability with sound business judgement. You should be comfortable discussing technology with technical teams and explaining business value to non-technical stakeholders. Attention to detail, curiosity, accountability, clear communication, and a willingness to test assumptions are important for this position.
Because AI and automation can affect business processes and employee responsibilities, the successful candidate should approach each project responsibly. Solutions should be transparent, appropriately controlled, tested against realistic scenarios, and supported by clear ownership. The ability to recognise when automation is not the right answer is just as important as the ability to build a working solution.
Method of Application
Interested and qualified candidates should forward their CV to: careers@sevenup.org using the position as the subject of the email.
Applicants should submit a current and readable CV that clearly presents their education, professional experience, automation projects, programming and integration skills, relevant tools, certifications, and measurable achievements. Where possible, candidates may highlight examples of workflows, AI-enabled applications, integrations, or process improvements they have delivered and supported.
Important Information for Applicants
Review the requirements carefully before applying and ensure that all information provided is accurate. Candidates should describe their experience honestly, especially where a role involved access to confidential data, production systems, enterprise applications, or business-critical workflows.
