Job Overview

  • Job title: Cybersecurity Professional
  • Employment type: Full-time
  • Location: Lagos, Nigeria
  • Qualification: BA, BSc or HND
  • Experience: At least four years, including three years in security architecture
  • Job field: Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Security Architecture and Risk Management

About the Opportunity

The successful candidate will contribute to the protection of critical business data and technology services. The role involves identifying security gaps, improving controls, supporting security projects and helping teams apply secure practices throughout the development and operational lifecycle. It also requires the ability to explain technical risks clearly and work with different departments to make sure that security policies are practical, understood and consistently followed.

Cybersecurity is not limited to responding to incidents after they occur. A strong security function also anticipates threats, evaluates vulnerabilities, protects access to systems, monitors unusual activity and helps the organization maintain reliable services. In this position, you will support a proactive approach that promotes confidentiality, integrity and availability across enterprise systems and information assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cybersecurity investigations and assist senior management in defining strategies to protect organizational data from attacks.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives in collaboration with the wider Group Cybersecurity team.
  • Design, implement and review security controls for information systems, enterprise applications and data environments.
  • Lead the implementation of information security projects from planning through delivery and operational handover.
  • Define and enforce security requirements for applications under development.
  • Design, document and deploy secure infrastructure solutions that strengthen the organization’s security posture.
  • Help protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of critical enterprise information.
  • Work with development teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle.
  • Monitor compliance with security requirements throughout the development and implementation process.
  • Work with stakeholders to implement security policies, standards, procedures and recommended best practices.
  • Collaborate with server and infrastructure teams to ensure security plans are practical, sustainable and properly managed.
  • Help reduce risk and avoid unnecessary disruption to servers, workstations and user productivity.
  • Implement infrastructure configurations and processes for monitoring security-related events.
  • Research appropriate technologies that can help prevent data loss and service interruptions.
  • Document information security processes and support their adoption across the organization.
  • Keep security documentation, diagrams, procedures and operating records accurate and up to date.
  • Support conformance with the organization’s Cybersecurity Blueprint and security roadmap.
  • Provide input to strategic plans by identifying security gaps, vulnerabilities and improvement priorities.
  • Plan and execute cybersecurity programs while tracking progress, risks, dependencies and outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Anticipate problems, assess possible complications and develop practical solutions that keep projects moving.
  • Help ensure that IT processes, procedures and policies are understood and followed by relevant teams.
  • Develop and deliver security awareness training on a quarterly, annual and as-needed basis.
  • Create security awareness materials, including presentations, posters, guidance notes and email alerts.
  • Measure the effectiveness of awareness activities through surveys, tests, participation levels and other suitable metrics.

Security Architecture and Risk Management

This position requires a thoughtful approach to security architecture. You will help review how systems are designed, how users and services gain access, how data moves between environments and how security controls can be monitored over time. The role also involves evaluating vulnerabilities and recommending treatment options based on business impact, technical feasibility and the organization’s risk tolerance.

Good security architecture should support business operations rather than create unnecessary barriers. The successful candidate will therefore need to balance protection with usability, availability and performance. Clear documentation and regular communication will be important when explaining why a control is needed, how it should be implemented and how its effectiveness will be reviewed.

Qualification and Requirements

  • Minimum of four years of professional work experience, including at least three years of security architecture experience.
  • Experience with identity management technologies and access-control principles.
  • Practical knowledge of vulnerability assessment, prioritization and treatment.
  • Experience with systems auditing and security control reviews.
  • Understanding of security architecture, network security and wireless security.
  • Proven experience across the full Secure Software Development Lifecycle, from project vision through implementation.
  • Experience supporting both small and medium-sized enterprise projects.
  • Good working knowledge of security design and architecture principles.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with development, infrastructure, operations and management teams.
  • A relevant BA, BSc or HND qualification is required.

Skills That Will Support Success

A strong candidate should be able to investigate security concerns methodically, document findings clearly and recommend actions that teams can implement. Attention to detail is essential because a missed configuration issue, outdated document or poorly understood requirement can create avoidable risk. The ideal professional should also be comfortable presenting security topics to different audiences and encouraging a culture in which employees understand their role in protecting company information.

How to Apply

Interested and qualified candidates should send their CV in PDF format to contact@gvapartners.com and copy tisea@gvapartners.com. Use the job title, “Cybersecurity Professional,” as the subject of the email. Applicants should highlight their experience in security architecture, identity management, vulnerability assessment, systems auditing, network security and secure software development.

Before submitting an application, candidates should review their CV for accuracy and ensure that it clearly presents relevant achievements, responsibilities, certifications and project experience. A concise application that demonstrates practical cybersecurity knowledge and the ability to work with business stakeholders will help the recruitment team understand the value the applicant can bring to GV Alliance Partners.
